ProxsysRx Signs Contract To Provide Retail and Specialty Pharmacy Services For Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare
Birmingham, AL – July 20, 2023 — Birmingham’s ProxsysRx has contracted with Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) to own-and-operate a retail pharmacy, and build-and-operate a specialty pharmacy on the hospital’s property.
Recognized as a Best Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, TMH is a 772-bed, not-for-profit community healthcare system serving a 21-county region in North Florida and South Georgia — with more than 700 staff physicians and 35 affiliated physician practices.
Key benefits ProxsysRx will bring to the hospital, its patients and its employees — through both the Retail Pharmacy and Specialty Pharmacy operations — include:
- Expanded local access and purchasing options for high-cost, life-saving medications.
- Implementation and operation of bedside prescription delivery service for patients.
- Free ship-to-home refills and on-campus prescription delivery.
- A Prescription Savings Card for lower costs on many prescriptions.
- Expansion and Optimization of the hospital’s “340B” prescription-savings program.
“We’re thrilled and honored to be serving Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare and their patients,” said ProxsysRx Founder & CEO George Salem. “We look forward to bringing them the kind of cost and service efficiencies that will ultimately enable the hospital, to better pursue its mission of patient care and satisfaction.”
“Having access to critical medications plays a key role in the overall wellness of a community,” said Ryan Smith, Chief Clinical Officer at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. “This new partnership will allow our patients and community members to conveniently access needed medications to aid in their healing process.”
ProxsysRx has already begun construction of both the Retail and Specialty Pharmacies, which will open later this year, and will provide Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare patients medications — at their bedside — as they discharge from the hospital. Both pharmacies will also work alongside the hospital to ensure that anyone visiting the campus has the opportunity to fill their medications, and receive refills, regardless of social determinates of health.
“Specialty Pharmacies,” says Salem, “handle the most expensive drugs, for the sickest patients. It’s commonly done from remote pharmacies, often located states away from hospital campuses. With its own Specialty Pharmacy, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare will give its patients the opportunity to have their care serviced locally and personally by Pharmacists who live in, and understand, the community. It’s the next level of care for their patients, and it’s an honor to play a critical supporting role their care.”
“Our program also includes financial assistance for patients in need. Which means patients go home with the medicines they need to recover, instead of worrying about how they’re going to afford them — or having to make unnecessary stops at off-site pharmacies on their way home from the hospital. That also means patients are much more likely to take their medicines and get better.
“It’s a clear win for patients and TMH benefits by keeping much more prescription revenue within the health system. In the very simplest terms,” Salem concludes, “that’s what ProxsysRx does: Help hospitals increase income by better serving and benefiting their patients.”
A further benefit ProxsysRx brings to the relationship with TMH is the technology ProxsysRx has developed in serving dozens of other health systems. “We’re implementing our processes to enhance all of the services we’ll be managing,” notes ProxsysRx Vice President of Growth Howard Hall. “For instance, employees will be able to fill prescriptions online — or by phone — so their prescriptions will be ready for quick pick-up at their convenience. If they prefer, we can even ship prescriptions directly to their home addresses. We’ll also make those service conveniences available to TMH’s patients.”
ProxsysRx offers hospital systems proven solutions for optimizing pharmacy services’ positive impact on the continuum of care; solutions ranging from management of their “340B” prescription-savings programs, Retail and Specialty Pharmacy operations, to Prescription Benefits program management and patient financial assistance. ProxsysRx’s services are available both on an integrated-program basis — or in individual components — and are supported by the company’s proprietary software system, which places actionable data, and business intelligence, at clients’ fingertips, in real time.
