BIRMINGHAM, AL – August 8, 2023 — Massachusetts’ Holyoke Medical Center (HMC), a 198-bed independent community hospital with more than 1,300 employees, has contracted with ProxsysRx for several of the hospital’s on-campus pharmacy services — including the construction and staffing of a retail pharmacy serving HMC’s patients and employees, which opened in June.
George Salem, CEO of ProxsysRx — which now owns and/or operates 26 hospital-based retail pharmacies across the country — noted the agreement his company reached with HMC for its pharmacy. “Historically, ProxsysRx has either managed hospital-owned pharmacies, or owned them outright — in which case,” he continues, “we build and manage them entirely at our expense. Under both models, we assume all financial and staffing responsibilities — and pay hospitals a percentage of our revenues. ProxsysRx owns the pharmacy at Holyoke.”
ProxsysRx’s contract with HMC marks another first for the company, notes VP of Growth Howard Hall. “We’ll be using their pharmacy as the hub of a concierge-style prescription service for Holyoke’s patients, employees and physicians. In addition to staffing and managing Holyoke’s Meds To Beds prescription delivery service for outpatients, we’ll offer a variety of personalized prescription services to their physicians and employees. For instance, physicians can easily set-up recurring-prescription services to patients after they’re discharged — offering them the option to have patients’ prescriptions delivered to their offices or directly to patients’ home addresses.” ProxsysRx currently offers Meds To Beds support for 13 other hospitals, Hall noted, with contracts in place to serve three additional hospitals soon.
ProxsysRx will also use its proprietary software system to support the various programs the company will manage for HMC. “We’re particularly excited about our relationship with Holyoke Medical Center, given the potential for us to serve other hospitals in its 13-member purchasing group — and our track record for consistently meeting or exceeding client expectations.”
